Quarterly Networking Dinner

Guest Speaker: Nik Gowing, BBC World News.
We are delighted to confirm that Nik Gowing, Main Presenter of BBC World News, will be our guest speaker. Nik will give an illustrated preview of his new research on how the growing proliferation of media sources in a major crisis creates a new vulnerability of power for governments, civil servants, the military and corporate executives.
If you are interested in attending please contact us as soon as possible as spaces are filling up. The dinner will take place at the Frontline Club in London (near Paddington Station) at 7.15pm.
To book your place please email enquiries@postconflictpeople.org for a booking form. An invoice for £55.00 will be forwarded to you by return and payment by cheque is required immediately in order to secure your place.

He presents the daily news analysis programme World News Today with Nik Gowing and moderates the channel's World Debates. He is also a regular presenter of BBC's Dateline London.
As a principal programme anchor Nik often leads presentation of continuous 24-hour/7-day week coverage of major crises. This has included 9-11, the death of Princess Diana, the Asian Tsunami, the conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo and many other major international events. He led BBC location coverage of the Mumbai terror attacks last November.
Nik has been a fellow of the Joan Shorenstein Center at the Kennedy School of Government, and served for six years as a member of the council of the Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House). He is currently a Visiting Fellow in the Reuter Institute of the Department of Politics at Oxford University, and is also a member of the executive council of the Royal United Service Institute (RUSI) and the councils of the Ditchley Foundation and the Overseas Development Institute.
Anyone working in difficult or dangerous environments or involved in stabilisation operations will acknowledge the crucial importance of an effective communications strategy. We would particularly encourage attendance from anyone who has witnessed the issues in the field; this will be an excellent opportunity to exchange insights on future strategy.
